Your credit record will probably still be shot so you need to clear that first. Have a word with either Ryan or Shaun our mortgage experts for help and advice.

Might I suggest a chat with Ryan and / or Shaun. They are two whole of market brokers with experience in adverse credit and both have helped many forum members. They can be contacted through the details in their profile pages here:

Chances are you won't get a reply from them until after Monday. September is when your record will start to clear up.

Id like to know similar.
We have our CC, IVA has gone from reports as over 6 years as have defaulted accounts. Score is still only 412.
We have been blown out for a phone contract as wanted to do that to help build without too much ‘expense/credit’.
As Kallis said your score amd history will be poor until at least sept.
perhaps spend these months saving some money towards deposit. we are trying to put somw away so get used to what a bigger mortgage would be (not doing very well).
Would like to know what we could do as desperate to move. Hope you hear from Ryan/Shaun....its bank holiday weekend though so might not be til tuesday unless pick up your post over weekend.

I am sure Ryan and his team will respond on Tuesday once they have returned to work. As will Shaun's.

From my experience the credit scores mean very little whilst the iva remains on file ...It's only when it drops of things improve sufficiently to be able to see a complete change.

The more you keep trying for different credit lines whilst the iva remains on file the more they will continue to show up ... so try not to add to the situation between now and then.

Frustrating I know from experience but patience is key ..it will all work itself out.

We were advised to get credit and use it and pay it all off to show we are capable of doing so and also to try and have a large amount of credit here and there not in use so again we are showing lenders we arent what an iva might portray us to be.

It's a very fine and difficult balancing act. Too much unused credit (cards etc) is a red flag as you could suddenly go bananas and max everything out ! Also, frequent use of a credit card, even if you pay it all off every month could be seen as a reliance on credit ! You can't win !!

You can try and do some soft searches on credit cards to see if you will be accepted and it is not visible to creditors.

Hi Becky,

Can I ask when you contacted us via the ivamortgageexpert.co.uk website, please ?
We've recently moved offices and have noticed a few anomalies with our IT and not getting these contacts may be another.

If you can call the office or contact me via my details on the contacts page here we'll get to the bottom of it for you.

Apologies and thanks for your patience
