Hi my husband and I have been out of our Iva now since April 2014 it is was completed early and dropped off our credit report Dec 2015. We have had no issues at all since and our credit score with Experian is 974/999 for me and 999/999 for my husband. We want to move and now have £100K equity in our house, we would like to apply for a mortgage but after reading various threads I’m worried our previous IVA will affect this ?? Please advise

Hi Kelly,

Lenders have differnet criteria as to when/if they will lend following an IVA. We'd be happy to look at your situation if you were to contact us.

Some lenders aren't bothered by an IVA in the past and some simply will not lend, whilst others apply various time limits. You could strike lucky walking into a High Street Lender, but refusals will hinder further applications elsewhere.

I would strongly suggest you use the services of a broker experienced in adverse credit applications such as Ryan and / or Shaun, who both regularly post on here and have impressive track records. Their details can be found under the Quick links menu, above, then on "The Team" in the drop down -- they are in yellow, near the bottom of the page.

Echo foggys suggestions..contact Ryan and or Shaun for specialist advice to ensure your previous iva does not become an issue in what should now be a straight forward process after this length of time. Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Given what you say you it should certainly be possible although lenders do of course vary considerably in their approach. It's important to do a little bit of groundwork and preparation but any experience Mortgage Adviser with specialism in this area will be able to help.

Hi Kelly
You definitely have good options from a couple of High Street Lenders, but also some will not help you.
Your IVA registration date/history is satisfactory & you have access to normal rates with the right lender/approach.
Good luck
Happy to help further
