Ive just moved over to dubai and started a job. I owe £45,000 in the UK (all unsecured) and I would like to look into an iva. would I be eligible to apply for one even if Im living abroad? I am happy to declare earnings etc and I dont want to be made bankrupt.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

There is no reaso why you can't do an IVA from Dubai.

Visit www.iva.com for a list of companies and reviews. Give one or two a ring and you will recieve free and impartial advice as to all the options open to you.

I would imagine you can do a IVA from anywhere, as long as you make the payments on time and you have a bank account here in the UK where payments will come from. Good luck

I'm not sure if you do need a British bank account. You should be able to pay from the account you use in the country you are living in.

You can easily do an IVA if you have moved to Dubai, and there is no need to have a UK bank account although most ex-pats tend to keep one.

Melanie - I would like to start the process for the IVA - would you be able to help me without me coming over to the UK?

Absolutely - the majority of our work can be done via the phone and e-mail, so long as you are not self-employed which will require a face to face meeting.

I wonder if I could wangle a trip to Dubai on the firm!!!!
