My parents have offered me some money to rectify my situation however they don't know about my IVA and for a full and final settlement I have to provide proof of the money being available from them. There is no way I can tell them about this and how it happened - any suggestions?
They obviously know you have debts, Can you not say that all your debts were consolidated with one company dont specifically mention an IVA and I imagine they will assume it is a loan company.
If life is what you make it, I must have been in a strange mood when I made mine
From reading your post your parents sound as though they know of your debts, which is alot more than what my parents know of mine.
An IVA is a solution for you to take responsibility for your actions & circumstances without having to go to others to bail you out so to speak. This is how I think of my IVA - my problem & Ive dealt with it without burdening others.
What a wonderful offer from your parents & I think if you explain your IVA, from a view of how I thin an IVA works, they will understand & appreciate you were taking responsibility for your debts.
Hope this helps n let us know how you get on.
Final IVA payment made in April 2013, never ever thought we could do it or get through it but we did! X

If you feel you can't tell them exactly what an IVA is, I think Pandy's idea is a good one.
However, as they know you are in debt then I'm sure they would be fine knowing that you had taken steps to sort it out yourself.

Personally I can't see why you can't tell them about the IVA as they know you have debt problems and are offering you the money.
It's each to his own though. I will never tell my parents about mine at all, even if they did offer me any money.
