I have a current running iva with another 18 months left to pay, i have always paid on time. My partner is trying to get a mortgage and although im not going on the deeds or being part of mortgage the mortgage people have asked for my name and date of birth as i will be living with him and i want to know if that will affect his chance of getting a mortgage even though im not going to have anything to do with it? One mortgage company have refused him after accepting him and wont give an answer why!! we are confused and trying to think of why it could be as his credit is good, could this be a reason?

Bad credit used to affect households not individuals now that is not the case. Only if you have a joint bank account, mortgage or some form of credit jointly could your adverse history affect him on a credit score.

I am sure that lenders do have to give reasons as to why potential borrowers are not accepted - so it might be worth chasing that up if only for future reference.

It might be better for your partner if you were just treated as a paying lodger.
