Hello there I was in a joint IVA with my ex however the money I owed was no more than £1500 and she owed 4 grand, we have recently split up and I want to opt out as I will be paying her debts for her.

It would have been an interlocking IVA and you should now get in touch with your IP and ask them to separate them. Did you have any joint debts?

As Kallis says, you will each have your own IVA, but they have been made "interlocking" --- treated as one. They can be seperated and each can continue on their own, with each of you making your own payments.

To be honest, I am surprised that an IVA was even proposed at the start for such a low level of debt. Might I ask which firm you are with ?
