Hi, our IVA journey has recently ended in September 2017 after beginning in July 2012 and I can honestly say we would not have got through it so smoothly without all the expert advice on this great site. The information has been invaluable. We are now worried about our mortgage and would appreciate any help we can get.

We have been on an interest only mortgage for many years now and are looking to re mortgage to a repayment mortgage. Our mortgage is due to be paid in full in 8 years but we do not have the capital to repay this. We were wondering if we could start looking around now for possible companies who would let us remortgage or would it be better to wait until after July 2018 which would be the 6 years after our IVA began.

any guidance on this would be highly appreciated.

Ryan and Shauns contact details can be found here: memberlist.php?mode=team

They are in yellow, towards the bottom. Click on their names and their profile details will be displayed.

You would have more choice of lenders if you wait until the 6 year mark and the files have cleared, but, you can start the spade work now --- summer will be here before we know it !

Firstly congratulations on successfully completing your IVA and great to hear that the forum has been a support to you, as it is to many people. It certainly something you would be well advised to look at sooner rather than later. It may be that you would be better to wait until the IVA is 6 years old but that is something we would normally consider as part of a review with clients in a similar situation.
