I know antm..hubby is in the same environment as you and I have worked in that field too.

I've lost count of the times I've heard the words sales, waste and shrink lol. but the kpi's are just a challenge an achievable challenge.

I annoy hubby, because I can take a step back and dissect what is expected with kpi's etc.. In return he keeps me sane and reminds me there is a personal element to HR![:I]

My sickness percentage is really good and below company targets, tbh i guys want to work, so those targets are achievable.

Being in a new store and they want us to take a million a week for example and the store is only doing half a million makes the sales, waste and shrink just unachievable thats why i work so hard on the others to get my top review!

No, not a bore at all. I think public and private sector do have totally different ideas.

I should of said, my targets before opening was to get 50% of LTE into placements in store. Once we opened its just retaining them is the target.

I'm thankful that I don't have that problem.

To get them is one thing, but to retain is totally different. Do you have to retain for x amount of months antm?

Do Tesco pledge to get a certain percentage unemployed into the workforce as part of their tender??????

Julie, yep the city councils build them in to the building contracts. The scheme is great if you put into it, my produce team are superb, but me and my deputy spent every shift with them for 8 weeks training so i have a great team, but others in the store struggle as they spent the time doing other stuff, while i focused on the team, worked out great for me.

Its going to go into all the new builds going forward, to encourage work in the community and to prove the company has a right to be there, as we are putting something back

All part of tescos strategy to get the monolopy? Great on the figures front, but enormous pressure on deliverance?

I think so, saying that none of the new stores are doing well, takes time to build up customer confidence.

The other point is its great in local press, loads of negative stories about our site, 10 years to acquire the build, and then they had to refit the football pitches, roads around the store, all the paving etc.. some of the developements cost more than the store itself, so its big business for the council!

Our Asda was the same, they had to build a new community centre and a new park and make sure there was adequate access to the school which is right next door to it.

I work for a charity that is funded from the County Council as the Council staff did not get payrise but a performace rise we ended up with out a pay rise and no performance related pay. I wouldn't have minded a performance related pay as my work targets are always good but I can see the problems this could cause.
