Phone contract after IVA finished

To cut a long story short I've been able to have a phone upgrade for quite a while now and haven't gone ahead with it as I was worried 'I was in an IVA' now on the 2nd October 2017 I made a full and final settlement against my IVA which was successful.

I am currently with Vodafone and want to change my phone provider to EE who I can get a better deal with but EE and other providers say they will carry out a credit check against me!!! Obviously my credit check is affected.. I don't know what to do!

I was given a new contract with T-Mobile ( now part of EE, I believe) during my IVA, as well as being able to upgrade with Vodafone.

I upgraded my phone with Vodafone throughout my IVA although I never tried changing my provider.

I changed my phone and provider during my IVA a few times and went from three to EE no problem

I think nowadays everyone has a mobile phone - its certainly easier to get a contract than it used to be. I got a contract Dongle for my internet, with "3" the same month that I finished my IVA (April 2014). Around 4 months later they called me out of the blue, asking if I wanted a new phone and contract !! As it happens I am on a sim only contract and buy my phones. I just don't like the "two year" contracts plus the fact that modern phone screens tend to crack easy :?
