Hi, hope this is ok to post. I'm hoping someone on here with a similar experience can help. I had my IVA approved back in March & a month or so ago started receiving phone calls from a number stating it was Allay Claims who had been appointed to investigate PPI on behalf of Payplan. I always google numbers I don't know & there was feedback to suggest it was a scam number so I didnt return the calls. I then received a letter from my supervisor at Payplan stating Allay had been trying to contact me but it all seemed a bit weird-the letter wasnt the same as those I've received from Payplan previously (which were from case officers) & there were other little things that didnt seem quite right. Today I called Allay Claims using the number from their website-they told me that they couldn't deal with me directly but had to be via Payplan so I mentioned this number that had been calling me & whether it belonged to them. After some investigation they told me the number wasn't theirs but was Payplan. When I've contacted Payplan previously about my concerns about this & the letter that was sent by my supervisor, they said that Allay do deal with the claims for them. I'm now completely confused & convinced I'm in the middle of a big scam as all the information on the companies is freely available online as are my details on the insolvency register. Am I just being overly suspicious-has anyone else had the same experience?
We were told by Creditfix that allay would be dealing with our PPI issues. We also bit dubious about it at first but seems legit.
There seems to be lits of numbers, contacts and departments! I was getting 12+ emails a day sometimes all the same thing at 3/4am! Plus letters and telephone calls! It was ridiculos but apparently automatic system!
When we did speak to someone i told them i would only communicate in onemethod with one person amd to stop the over powering comms as veering on harrassment. They listened and it stopped. We filled out the paperwork we were sent and have had 2-3 successful claims go to our iva. Not sure if that helps or not.
Not sure why they cant deal direct with you when you need to sign paperwork authorising them to look for ppi!!!! All i can say is that it seems a legit company but communication not their forte!
Thanks for your reply. It's all just really weird. The person I spoke to at Allay said that the number ringing me wasn't Allay but belonged to Payplan yet I'm receiving phonecalls/texts from that number claiming to be Allay & letters from Payplan telling me to ring Allay on that number!!!!!!!! It seems like the most obvious solution is to check with my supervisor whether he sent those letters but I'm not sure whether protocol dictates I have to go through case officers (I can't find any direct contact info for my supervisor). When I contacted them about my concerns regarding the authenticity of the letter (the signature was actually different from that on my IVA proposal as well as other differences e.g. how they addressed me, the layout & there was no IVA case reference number on there) they confirmed that the signature was genuine. The letter said that I needed to "cooperate with my supervisor". Well I have cooperated by contacting Allay but because of their response I'm not sure what to do next. I don't want to ring that number until I have confirmation in case it is a scam & then I have dodgy people turning up at my house etc etc
The problem here is that we have departments at claims compnaies who use the Insolvency Firms headed paper and claim to be them, and claims companies who ARE actually part of the insolvency firm ... details being passed willy nilly (questionable practice under data protection) and nobody knows which backside belongs with which elbow!!
I would email Payplan stating your concerns and say that you ARE willing to co-operate, but only once Payplan confirm, from the email address you have written to, that the details are legitimate.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014
Thanks!!! The problem is you email/message them & they take ages (if at all) to reply (I do understand that they are really busy & under-resourced) but then when I spoke to them about it they didn't seem to understand what I was saying so didn't get anywhere. All I wanted was for them to confirm that it was genuine which they haven't done. This was why I was hoping that there would be someone on here who had experienced the same thing & could verify whether it was all legit.
