I would add that I consider extending the IVA for equity release reasons at the start and then to also rely on a further extension in lieu of equity release to be questionable practice.

If the IVA were to go to term and the 12 month extension was appiled ( which it looks like it would ) the creditors stand to get around £6k more fom you. If you sell the house they will take an amount to cover the full original debt, plus fees and statutory interest (around £27.5k) less the £6k already paid, so around £21.5 k. Do have to mention that, if the new house requires any finance, it is not going to happen until at least another three years have passed even if you settled the IVA today.

Many posters have had new fixed rate deals agreed with current lenders at better than variable rate. As you are staying with your current lender (you will not be able to move to another anyway) they are not taking on any further risk than they have now.
