Not always -- it all depends on your whole set of circumstances: Amount of debt, disposable income, are you a home owner, and many other things, including your job, make up of creditors etc.etc.

If you could give us a brief picture we might be able to give a more useful reply.

You could agree a payment break with your IP until things improve, or, you could re-do your I&E to see if reduced payments are possible --- they would have to be agreed by your creditors as well as being sufficient to make the IVA still viable. I agree that an IVA for debts of £5.5k is an extrem...

Unfortunately, without a potentially very expensive court case, you are stuck with the IVA being on your credit records for the full 6 years from the start date. As has been mentioned, you would have had the opportunity to correct any errors in the I&E and paying this creditor £700 is something ...

I would just say I am changing address and paying this amount, including bills ... none of his business who else is in the house and not your information to divulge about housemates.

As far as I am aware they are all reasonable creditors. IF they reject you will have a chance to address the reason why (there might be a work around) or try for a DMP while you regroup. Creditors rarely go straight for the jugular if you are trying to come to some form or arrangement.

She would name you as a lodger, but would lose her single persons discount however you are described. I do not know whether they will issue a bill in joint names, but when I had a lodger (before my IVA) they were not mentioned on the bill.

You always owe the full original debt, plus fees, as agreed, as well as possible statutory interest at 8% simple per annum. Once you hit this figure the IVA will conclude.

Probably easiest if, as you say, you agree a lump sum and pay that monthky as though you were, in fact, house sharing, rather than living together. That way, too, it will be easier to keep your finances distanced from each other to prevent your IVA tainting her credit record.
