As Kallis says a default will show for 6 years from the date it is recorded - the start date of all the defaults should be the same as the IVA start date so that on the 6th Anniversary all the reports (Experian, Equifax and Callcredit/Noddle) should be clear.

As Foggy says not whilst in the IVA, if you were able to settle the IVA early there is a Lender who may consider lending though.

Yes it's nonsense unfortunately. We've had quite a few Clients this year who have been taken off after they have phoned them.

Hi,

From looking at their website they say 'its a mortgage free way of buying a property' - not sure how that's possible unless you have the full amount available in savings so definitely best to read the small print.

Pretty much what Foggy said. We've had Clients who managed to speak to someone helpful and they were taken off within 24 hours but it does seem to be luck of the draw sadly.

Hi Kerry, If you wait until June next year then there are High Street Lenders we have access to who would be willing to lend, subject to affordability and loan to value. If you were looking to do it prior to then you'd be looking at 'adverse' Lenders and so the interest rates would be quite a bit hi...

Hi Lauren,

There is a specialist Lender who are about to launch a new Help to Buy product aimed at Clients who are within the 6 years of an IVA however, you would have to settle the IVA to qualify. Also you would have to be accepted by both the Lender and the Help to Buy scheme.

The problem with DMPs is that unlike with an IVA the Creditors don't have to default you on the start date. Its worth contacting the creditor and telling them you need them to issue a default against the account and get them to date it as far back as possible so that the account will then fall off t...

Hi Diane,

If the account was included in the IVA (and hadn't been defaulted whilst under the DMP) then they have to issue a default against the account which should be dated the same date as the IVA start date. By doing so the account should then fall off your credit report.
