Many people have been put in a similar situation unfortunately.

As has already been stated it may be possible to re-mortgage to a different Lender and do a full repayment mortgage on an affordable term for you, if not make the most of the over payments if you are able.

I read that as 6 years from the end date also - Santander aren't the most helpful following an IVA sadly.

Hi Jennifer,

As Foggy says some Lenders will allow you to swap to a new rate but changing Lenders wouldn't be possible whilst you are in the IVA.

Have you asked the Insolvency people when they actually received your Completion Certificate? They do still come out with the '3 months from date of receipt' line so hopefully you are almost there.

Hi Fash, Once the IVA and all associated defaults fall off the reports your score will start to improve. Having taken no new credit though in the last 6 years does tend to lead to having a lower score. Make sure to check that all 3 credit reports are clear and up to date (Experian, Equifax and CAllc...
