If you are married many Lenders these days will only lend in both names to married couples so it would reduce the number of Lenders willing to offer a Mortgage.

Hi Holly, One of the other experts will comment shortly on the differences/benefits but just to say with the IVA you'll show on the Insolvency Register for 6 years whichever way you do one. Many Lenders will want longer than 6 years to have elapsed before they will look to offer you a Mortgage and s...

Hi John,

As we understand it only the Company who recorded the default can amend it so whichever creditor it's under on the credit report they are the one to contact.

Robbie, As Kallis says if you enter an IVA you would be looking at a minimum 6 years before you could look to obtain a High Street Mortgage. If you enter a DMP it may be even longer than 6 years as under a DMP a default doesn't get recorded at the start of the Plan which can lead to issues later on....

As Kallis says it may be best to leave until nearer the end of the IVA. It's best to check your credit reports even after the 6 years as things can re-appear on your reports out of the blue due to Creditor error.
