That's great news. As Foggy says it's certainly something that we have been able to assist others with in similar situations.

I agree with Foggy, contact them now and get it amended. Also have you checked all 3 of your credit reports - Experian, Equifax/clearscore and Callcredit/Noddle?

The date of the default should match the IVA start date (if they don't ask the Creditors to amend the default date) and they would fall off the credit report 6 years from this date.

Best to check all 3 of your credit reports - Experian, Equifax/Clearscore and Callcredit/Noddle.

As Merlin says it's best to contact them and for it to be removed. I can only speak with regards to Mortgages but with Notices of Correction or Disputes on the credit reports Lenders know that there is something showing on your credit reports but as they can't see copies of your full reports they do...

Hi Victoria,

If you were to enter into an IVA your credit rating would pretty much be shot for 6 years so if you are trying to avoid that then you've probably answered your own question to be honest. Are you able to re-mortgage say to raise some additional money if needed?

Hi Stephen,

Is the loan the only debt that you have as entering into an IVA for only £4,000 probably wouldn't be advisable?

Hi Morrey,

As Foggy says it should be one or the other so worth maybe finding out a bit more. If there was a restriction against the property in question it may need to be removed before the re-mortgage can go through.

Hi Sally,

I think Foggy has covered everything to be honest. As he says best to contact the Insurer and initially just make a general enquiry regarding their pay out conditions re critical illness cover.

All the best.

Hi Darren, I have to agree with Foggy. Although there are specialist Lenders who may 'consider' lending whilst you are still in an IVA if you have plenty of equity it would be at a higher interest rate than you are paying currently. Once your completion certificate has been issued is the time that w...
