Find your local GA and attend a meeting, speak honestly in the room. Your story is similar to mine except you have been honest from the beginning as to where your money went (I tried to hide as was ashamed to tell anyone how I lost it) so you have already taking a step in the right direction. Gambli...

I started rebuilding my own credit rating with the free score-rating websites, I also got a first credit card to use but pay off each month, once my limit started going up - so did my score. I recon it took my two years to get to the stage where I could get a mortgage if I applied, but there are bet...

So I have chose this one connected with gambling (I want to give something away) I had a gambling problem which led to me ending up over my head and on an IVA. My book 'the insanity of gambling' explores my journey up to that point. From 10th to 12th Februa...

If its PayPal from the balance made up from your own money from eBay sales, then surely this would be the same as using a pre-pay credit card? Is your PayPal linked to any credit cards that you owe money too? If its connected to cards that are suspended by creditors it might have problems? If you wr...

Gambling is still an misunderstood topic, there is no science behind it and the mere words is bound to send shivers down any moneylenders spine. As a gambler in recovery, trust is the hardest thing to win.

I have said this recently (broken record - sorry) without stating the obvious, you can stake cash if you want to bet. If you win over £500, it will be paid back onto your card - you are then liable to pay every penny into the IVA pot, and the evidence will be there in black and white. winning over £...

Hi Lee

From personal experience, my own certificate took 6 months - almost to the day. If yours is the same as mine then it would be February. That was in 2014 - I would hope they speeded things up a bit since then.

Just an addition - gambling winnings that are over £500 are meant to be paid into the IVA pot - if you pay on card - they might insist on repaying you on the same card - then the winnings can then come under scrutiny in black and white.

I never knew this, assumed everyone had the 10% clause. Not even sure if mine was 10/50/50 now - I'll dig it out later out of curiosity.
