I received a text message the other day saying Argos are refunding me over £200 - and the text that came said "Argos" - I referred to Doctor Google which informed me that this is a scam and not to click the link sent.

Thanks Foggy

I'm still scarred today, but in a good way. I think twice before I spend what I cant afford. If it had been easy I wouldn't have the same mindset :)

In my own IVA, when I was earning more, I was expected to pay more, when I was receiving less, and couldn't make the payments, they were capped onto the end of the IVA. It doesn't feel like its meant to work out in our favour for a lot of the time, however, whenever I do the maths, the same thing ke...

I managed to put a little away on my IVA due to the fact I was always at the reduced yellow sticker section of the supermarkets - at the best times! Food and clothing can certainly  be fudged.

I was in a similar situation to you, I received £5.5k in PPI too. This was from one of my creditors (who I owed money too) and they paid it straight into the pot without sending it to me first. I owed £19k at the start of my IVA, I had already paid £18 back at this point and had three payments of £3...

Its very weird because its payments that should have been paid to you in the first place. Yet it wasn't and now you have to pay it into the pot.

Even if your partner is a sensible gambler, in control (many people are), the creditors will realise that gambling is different to the way it was in the 70's and 80's. Its now all day, 24/7 and available everywhere. And in the wrong hands, very dangerous, think we all know this as we probably all kn...

This seems a very complicated way of doing things? the whole selling point of an IVA is simplicity, no letters and no phone calls. I'd rather just pay my council tax the normal way, personally.

I know someone, a few years back, who was involved in a car accident and received £4k for serious whiplash injury, I mean months of physiotherapy, it was that bad.. Would seem unfair in that type of situation to hand over monies that were from suffering? Was there any suffering in your case?

I found those free sights were they give you positives and negatives, a great help in getting my credit rating up. I got a credit card with a small limit and slowly built it up. I hardly use it though, once bitten and all that.

Well done at getting to the end after al that but, what an awful experience you have been through. I remember in 2008 seeing an ad in the paper for IVA's saying "debt free in 5 years with 80% written off" and "one simple payment with no phone calls" certainly leads us to a false ...

You did very well to get a credit card whilst in an IVA. I managed to get one after I received my certificate but, a small limit - which they have put up a few times and it now stands at £2k, thankfully I rarely use it, I cant face IVA number 2.

What an awful situation, if you call them again I understand you can ask to speak to someone higher up? a supervisor maybe? Hang in there and try to get some clarity.
