I had to conduct a review a few months after my IVA was completed and I was worried as work began offering unlimited overtime for a few months to prepare for some new software - I virtually lived there  When they got in touch with me to tell me this (just before they wrapped things up for the ...

I got myself a Barclays freedom reward credit card with an £750 limit 6 months post IVA and used it wisely. Its a starter card and every few months they put your credit limit up - I noticed that when my limit went up, my credit score got better. Very small steps but 3 years later I could probably ge...

I work at the NHS and they do a salary sacrifice scheme for cars. Don't think you keep the car but its maintained and you never have to pay anything except the one payment - unless its changed since I looked into the a couple of years ago. IVA's are advertised at 60 affordable payment then debt free - its a shame they don't actually make the consumer aware of the full probable eventualities. Getting to the goalpost and finding out its been change must be frustrating. Think its easier if your know these things in the first place. I liv...

Me too, sold and bought items from eBay and Amazon. For food I used to be at the reduced yellow label goods at the supermarket every night. Oddly enough the part of the IVA enjoyed the most, being frugal. I still do it now post-IVA.

I applied for a credit card around a year after I receive my certificate with the hope of increasing my credit rating, I didn't know what I was doing but I tried to use it sensibly, obviously after being on an IVA I didn't want to head towards that again. I found the free credit score website a big ...

Thanks for the comments. I intent to give it away for free as much as I am allowed, which is 5 days per three months so if anyone missed it simply keep looking out. Its mainly aimed at the mindset of how an addict thinks and the knock on effect of making bad decisions - its not a self help - more of...

I believe they view the total income. If you earn child tax credits I believe this can be counted in too. Its meant to be from your total income and enough left for food/clothing and amenities. Your allowed to have allowances for mobile phones and Sky TV, pets and insurance. I couldn't afford a prop...
