Yes it's quite possible, and quite common practice, although of course it will depend on your particular circumstances.

Like Lisa I'd be interested to know how far the sale has progressed and whether you have discussed this with your IP?

No-one can rely answer that question without full details of your situation. If you are in any doubt, or aren't convinced by who you have spoken to already, I'd try talking to another debt advice firm (possibly one of the experts or sponsors of the forum).

Hi Kay. If you own a property there's usually a clause included that you will try to re-mortgage to release some equity for the creditors. As already mentioned, I'd check your paperwork.

It may well be that there's a much better deal with another lender. However if you do wish to stay put, you could look at 2 other alternatives; either make additional payments of capital to reduce the balance or otherwise you could argue that they aren't treating you fairly (which they are obliged t...

It may be that my firm will be involved in the review but if, as you say, you have a significant amount of equity in your property then a re-mortgage might well be a realistic property and what was included in your proposal. If however a second charge mortgage is a better option then it's well worth...

I agree with both Foggy and Ryan, and even if changing lenders were possible, the rate would undoubtedly be less competitive.

It very much depends upon who your IP is as to what they will require but I would keep your mind open to the options available to you before you jump to any decisions.

I'm afraid there's no real possibility of achieving this at present. It is very rare for a lender to consider lending to you whilst you are still in the IVA and those who would do not offer mortgages for 'Right-to-Buy' Council House purchases. In any event you would also need the approval of your In...

I'd suggest you ask your IP what evidence they will require that you are unable to re-mortgage. Different IP firms have different expectations but there is becoming a wider availability of products which may be why they are asking. You may also be able to access a secured loan (now referred to forma...

As previous posters have said, it depends entirely on the lender concerned and the specific questions they ask. I'd most definitely not encourage you to lie on an application but hopefully you won't need to. Bear in mind of course that the IVA is only one of the things lenders consider when assessin...
