Hi, our Iva comes off of our files I’m august this year. We would like to apply for a mortgage. I understand that using a broker to do the work for us is a good idea, but I’m worried about paying £1000 to a broker for them to come back with an offer from a lender at a rate that we couldn’t afford. We’d be £1000 down and with no mortgage

Hi Kate,

Any Broker who is half decent should only charge you a fee once your Mortgage Completes. Best to avoid those who charge upfront.

As Ryan suggests avoid a broker who charges an upfront fee also not based on results. I would suggest a chat with Ryan and / or Shaun, who are both whole of market brokers with experience of applications from those with a "past".

Ryan's details are in his post above and Shaun's can be found here: memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=22837
