I have been in an IVA for just over 3 years and have noticed a number on my home home that I did not recognise for the past 2 weeks. When I rung the number back it said it did not receive incoming calls. So today they phoned they asked to speak to me and asked me to confirm my address (which I wouldn't) so I asked who was speaking and I was that flustered that I cant even remember what he said apart from he was from a three barrelled name and I think he said Glasgow and phoning on behalf of capital about financial matters he asked for me to confirm my address again and when I wouldn't he said fine and put the phone down. I cant believe after 3 years this is STILL happening I feel sick AGAIN and how did they get my phone number. Will this nightmare ever end. [V]
Hi Icey and welcome to the Forum.
You should immediately contact your IP about thses calls. If it was a creditor or their agent your IP will soon put a stop to this but it may have been a bankruptcy assist company.
They search the insolvency register for names and then ring up causing panic with their stories of missold IVAs.
Do not be concerned but tell your IP. They are there to help you through the IVA as well as supervise it.
What a pain to keep receiving calls. The only saving grace is that you are protected and they cannot do anything to you.
If they phone again, try to remember the name of the company and speak to your IP about it.
In the meantime, don't let it worry you. I'm afraid I would give them short shrift and the second word would be 'off'!

Hi Icey and welcome to the forum. This is unusual however it may not be a creditor as this would be a serious breech of the IVA agreement given that you are in an IVA for over 3 years. It may be someone from a company trying to entice you out of your IVA by offering a better solution such as bankruptcy and may even tell you that your IVA was missold. Unfortunately this underhand practice happens alot and there are many posters on this forum who have received letters etc from these companies. My advice, if this is indeed what is happening is to advise the person if they call you again that you will make a formal complaint. You should also advise your IP and I know size5 (a poster on here from ClearDebt) is collecting examples of such behaviour, so it might be worth letting him know.
thanks everyone for your support when things like this happen I always come to this site and ALWAYS feel reassured so thanks again. Every time I get 1 of these calls just sets me right back to the beginning. I would love to know how they got my phone number as its ex-directory and we have moved house since our IVA started.
I wondered that as well Declan. It could well be one of those.
How they got the number though I have no idea.

Its a strange one Jan. I have seen two instance's this week of letters from these companies. One been from Jefferson Hobbs. I would love to know how they get peoples numbers when they go ex directory and I suspect their methods of obtaining them are suspicious.
We are ex directory and have been for over 20 years. We've never been cold called by anyone.
Any website I go onto now that asks for a phone number, I just put in 01000000000 and it is usually accepted.
