My problem with going abroad it that if I can't go 5 star I don't want to go at all. I can't see the attraction of anywhere I can't drink the water, and I remember being horrified when I got to Corfu and was told we couldn't flush toilet paper down the toilet!

I also don't like anywhere with too many people - when you see pictures of beaches packed with people squashed like sardines it's my idea of hell!!

I don't mind slumming it a bit, I'll do three or four star. Don't mind bottled water, but do like decent toilet facilities and hate packed beaches!

OK, I could probably manage 3 or 4 star, but the water is very important!

It depends how many people there are, and how many of them are children!

I'll slum it too and never had a bad holiday, the only time we did 5* I hated he experience it was in Turkey and we took MIL (that wasn't the reason I hated it) the room had carpets and was really posh the food was that posh I couldn't eat a thing and lived on bread rolls and crisps for a fortnight, the pool and the turkish massage etc were fab but couldn't say it was my best holiday as the food although very artistic with ice sculptures etc., just wasn't for me although hubby loved it and so did MIL but they're not as fussy as me x

Touch wood we have never had a bad holiday - we go for 7 days as I like to have time at home before returning to work. We usually go to The Canaries or mainland Spain and the 5* is fab but not pretentious - keep looking at Turkey but don't know if I want to go [:I][:D]

I have to say Turkey isn't on my list of places to go, 5* or not, as I don't know anyone who hasn't had food poisoning there!

I'm not such a fussy eater as I used to be, but I am careful about what I eat.

We've had a couple of bad holidays, the worst being to Looe in Cornwall where we wouldn't even stay one night in the cottage I'd booked!

We stayed at a 5 star in Florida for a couple of nights the last time we went there (well in their apartments!) We were able to use the hotel facilities and I had always wanted to go in there.

I loved going in for lunch wearing shorts and flip flops! I really didn't care if anyone looked down their noses at me. My money (or plastic!) was as good as anyone elses.

I'm going to say this and no doubt regret it but we've been all over and never got food poisoning from anywhere, now we'll wait and see what happens in November! eek x

Uh Oh Lesley...lets hope not [:D]

My parents, sister and daughter have had fab holidays in Turkey, but there's still a niggle with me and I don't know why.

I've had to stay in a few hotels in the UK with my job and unlike my old job, I can't chose where I stay. So I have found myself in premier inns, travel lodges and the like. They are okay, but very basic!

I'm off to Leeds tomorrow evening..3* hotel, just hope there's a bath and its clean [:D]
