I have a friend who has been receiving Debt Management advice from "CAP" a Christian organisation. She has been making payments for several years to this organisation and they have been paying her creditors. However - they were projecting a long [20 years?] programme of payments which is unsustainable.
Now my friend has been made redundant and has received a severance payment. She has asked CAP to approach creditors with a proposal for a full final settlement but they are ignoring her requests and she is struggling to get one consistent approach from one single advisor.
Can she transfer her debt management to another agency, given that she is not currently in an IVA? How should |I advise her to proceed?
I would suggest your friend speaks to one or two companies to see if an IVA is suitable.

I would suggest she maintain the debt management plan with CAP for the time being and talk to other IVA providers about a lump sum IVA. Alternatively she could approach creditors direct with her own full and final offer, if there are not too many of them. CAB might assist with this.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
