I feel I have to write this post im so thankfull for this great thread that has seen me through worry to iva acceptance .Although iva have a downside any extra we have to put in etc all those weekly credit card bills loans etc are now all consolidated its so much easier to budget monthly we for once have money of our own to live off no credit feels quite liberating .Minimum payments that would take about 25 years to clear now slashed in 5 on a debt free journey with a definite date no more adding to the debt with increased credit limits .Iv never felt so in control and now iv a long road ahead but a relaxed one feeling in control of my life carefully budgeting knowing im not going further into the spiral is the best feeling ever I shall be a regular on this site on my journey to see it to the finishing line I cant thank you all enough especially foggy kallis and abbysmum thank you all so much I shall always recommend people in need to this site and please all stay safe in these difficult times x

Also thinking of all the 1000s of pounds in interest frozen it in my mind is money well spent to the ip because it would have gone in interest to the credit conpanys etc .Id recommend to anyone in regular income with large debt to seek advice on the best solution .It makes your life feel so much in control again and puts you back on track and gives you a bit of power to stop legal threats court action etc.Yes there are like anything sacrifices to be made lessons to be learned but the iva gives you a second chance to get your financial life back under control whilst still being able to live within your means and takes one hell of a lot of weight off your back .

You are more than welcome, Colin. Thank you for your kind words.

I have to agree that life under an IVA is arduous at times, but so much better than all the worrying and juggling that led us into these arrangements in the first place. The IVA gives us a chance to breathe and an element of financial rehabilitation and a budgetting habit. But it also gives us back that element of control, if we take the opportunity to seize it. The creditors no longer call the shots and, as long as we make ourselves well aware of our responsibilies under the agreement, and those of the IP, we are now the ones driving our way out of debt.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014

Oh goodness i was reading your post and agreeing every word then you mentioned me.
I am only sharing my experience and all I have learnt from own journey and again from the advice gained from this forum along the way.
An IVA changes your whole mind set to finances and learning to budget but like you say it gives you a whole nee perspective and education, freedom and a controlled means to manage debt.
Thank you for your lovely post and good luck on your journey.
