Calls have started coming thick and fast, mainly from Halifax and Barclaycard, I haven`t answered 99% of these calls as I work nights so have my phone on silent, but sometimes they leave messages. I like the fact that they ask you to ring them back and then proceed to give you an 0845 contact number, even though they`ve phoned you on a standard rate number!!!
Amex left a message to contact them and left a freephone number, so I decided to call them back, they were actually very understanding and seemed quite sympathetic when I told them of my situation and that I was proposing an IVA. They just asked for my IP`s details and actually thanked me for `taking the time out` to call them and wished me luck.
I actually phoned the co-op, after ten messages in two days, on the lost card freephone number and they re-directed me,I explained everything to a very churlish agent( proposing IVA,you`ve had letters off me and my IP,not paying you anything as not to show preference,I work nights so have phone on silent, gave IP`s details). Reply "So are you able to make a payment now?" !!!,after all that I`d just explained...
and then "What if you`re proposal is rejected?".
I said that would be simple as I would have to file for bankruptcy and that would probably be the best solution for me anyway as I`ve no kids, no assets and little equity in my house!!!
This was greeted with absolute silence for about 5 seconds and then "Ok, I will update our records"
I haven`t had a call from them since.
I appreciate that these companies quite rightly want their money, but it seems that most of them completely ignore all communication from you and your IP...Why??? What do they hope to achieve???

If you are on a BT plan then 0845 numbers don't cost.

I never used to answer any of mine at all.

I never answered mine either to the day they stopped. I had already explained to them all once and they continued to ring so I felt I had done my bit telling them once and left it at that. I have to say though the calls were literally non stop all day when I had them it was a nightmare lol.

I think what got me when they phoned and the ones I answered was even when I explained what was happening there was still little understanding of what I said. I did in the end have prepared speach in that I am going into an IVA and the name and number of my IVA company and then put the phone down. That is one thing I do not miss the fear of answering the phone. When things got bad I just let everything go to answer phone and would only pick up if it was family or friends.

I never spoke to mine at all until the day my IVA was accepted. Nothing since then.

I sent a standard letter to each creditor once I had engaged my IP informing them that I was entering an IVA and that all correspondence should be directed to that IP.

I did not respond to any written letter, phone call or any other means of correspondence to my creditors from that moment.

I never spoke to mine until the day the IVA was accepted, but I did write to them and said I would only deal with them via snail mail.

I did set out with the plan not to answer any calls from my creditors too, and generally that`s what I`ve done,I`ve just answered a couple of calls and replied to two messages. They`ve all had letters from my IP and myself, and I definately will not waste any more time and effort in dialogue reiterating information they`ve already had.
At least the weather`s nice[:D]

Have a nap in a shady part of the garden, not full sun or you'll frazzle. I'm the only one up here but what's new there....after the housework I plan on being in the garden for a few hours. x
