I get annoyed with myself too tom, thinking if only this or if only that and regret that my 4th child is the only one suffering the repercussions of my actions but onward and upward, I'll get through this, it's not all been good times.

I hope GT come up trumps for you and things improve. x

Its understandable to feel annoyed that you got yourself into the black hole of debt and its also very understandable that you do not read and or take in all the information that you are given at the time, you just want help with your problem.

Your review is due soon and I would suggest that you make sure you are happy with your income and expenditure figures, but as for the value of your home,it would be revalued anyone prior to an equity release so the main thing for you to find out about regarding that is what happens if and when you cannot release the equity(many have a 12 month extension written into their proposal),so have a good look through your paperwork and let us know.

Raqia,an IVA should never be forced upon you and you cretainly shouldnt be getting messages requesting you return a proposal, which company did you use?? Dont wory about naming them on here it helps to build a fair picture of what to expect from different companies.

I get annoyed with myself as well - we stupidly remortgaged on the advice of the bank and ended up with the mortgage being extended and we have another eight years to go instead of three. Still went on to run up more debts.

In hindsight we should never have done that, we should have sought advice elsewhere. If we had, we could have been debt free now.

Still, I shall be positive and hope that the remainder of the time goes as well as the first part has.

Lloyds suggesting we remortgage and consolidate our credit cards(again!!) onto one loan was the straw that broke the camles back for us. We went in for help thinking that perhaps they could freeze the interest on our cards for 6 months or something and instead they tried to throw more money at us. I dont think I have been more angry in my life than I was with the branch manager that day,and to say he got a piece of my mind would be a vast understatement. Glad the local citizens advice bureau was just over the road or we would perhaps have just gone home from the bank and struggled on keeping our heads in the sand!!!

HSBC refused to help us and all they wanted to know was whether or not we would use any money from a remortgage to pay their loan. We didn't, we paid off a few cards, bought a car and went on several holidays.

Very stupid!
