I was at the boot sale this morning and pointed out to hubby a little girl about 5 years old dressed like a mini adult, high heel shoes skimpy top and very short tight skirt and covered in makeup. Where has her childhood gone and what will she be like in another 10 years. If there were not the negative roll models about perhaps our children would just be children.

She does Julie! Son's g/f mother of the twins is a model too. Very plastic shall we say but a lovely person and down to earth, each to their own and no matter what my 4 do or don't do they're mine and I'll support then. Only his mother would live one of my boys but I do and I do it unconditionally.

I blame the parents and shops for that Carole, women who have modelled / used their sexuality for a career is not a new thing.

Most obviously the parents responsibility to dress a 5 year old appropriately.

I'm with Carole on this one. My daughter was never dressed up in what I would class as inappropriate clothing for her age.

I didn't have to chose 'sexy' clothing for her, and I didn't.

I've seen what can happen when you do that - I spent two years working on the vice squad so have seen the other side of life.

I agree with Carole too Jan, but the fact that 5yr olds are being dressed in an inappropriate manner is surely the fault of parents???

My girls were dressed according to what I thought was appropriate. That was my responsibility as a parent!

It is the fault of the parents, and also of the clothing manufacturers. I know I'm an old git now, but there was no such thing as provocative clothing for kids when I was young.

100 % agree Lesley!

As for dressing young girls inappropriately, has anyone seen the "tiara's and tantrums" programme? It follows contestants for the American Pageants...I cannot agree with how those children are exploited!

I've seen that before, and the recent one to with ballroom dancing.

It is an utter disgrace how those kids are pushed by the parents.
