Hello All! Hope you are all well and enjoying this mixed bag of weather we have been having recently!!!![:D]

Firstly, the last thing you heard from me was that terrible delay on getting an answer to my IVA application, which if you remember, thanks to all the support on the boards and personal plees to help me to Declan from DFD, I was finally accepted!! It was an awful time as my uncle had just passed away and my mum was relocating which meant that I was going to be homeless if I didn't get the result I was praying for!! 6 months in now and the payments are being made on time, my mum has agreed that I can stay in her home till August when they finally move to OZ and sell the house (they are now living in my step dad's house) and I pay £400 rent plus £200 for bills which was what was agreed at the Chairperson's Meeting.

Here's the question, based on my payments of £323 per month, over 5 years I calculate that the amount agreed for payback was £19,380 - I think I owed just over 30k - I have recently had more bad times, my other uncle died and my granddad shortly after, which means that when my mum moves to OZ I will have no family around, on top of this I have been told that there might be a chance of redundancy at work and as I have only been here 14 months, I will get at the most a couple of hundred pounds and given the way the job market is at the moment, I am not sure that I will get a job straight away, paying what this does and in a location that wouldn't mean an increase in petrol!

My mum is really keen on me moving with the rest of the family and given what has happened in the last 9 months, I really don't think I can "lose" anymore family - I have already been signed off work with depression, by my doctor for 4 weeks and am now on antidepressants.

From the sale of my mum's house, she says that she might be able to offer £10,000.00 only on the understanding that this is a fixed and final payment and I move with her in September - if I offered that, plus what I have already paid (£1,938) + my payments between June and August (£969) TOTAL £12,907 - Do you think that this would be an acceptable offer to make (and be accepted)???

Lots of Love Lusso xx

Creditors tend not to like early variations unless the change in circumstances could not have been foreseen. Your situation fits that description so personally I would be happy to put forward such a variation.

If you are made redundant creditors would get nothing but regardless, the early settlement may be attractive to creditors and you could start afresh in Oz. Maybe speak to Declan when he returns from holiday and hopefully it will all be sorted out.

Thanks Michael Peoples, I will wait to "speak" to Declan when he is back next week.

What kind of proof (if any) would I need of relocation? If this was approved and would allow me to move with the family, I wouldn't be able to buy tickets etc until I have the "freed up cash" to do so
[:(]Should I also get a doctors note for my depression? Work are unlikely to put anything in writing until they know more....

I am not sure what DFD would require but a note from the doctor or your employer would be helpful. The main issue to me is the insecurity of your employment and not moving abroad as this is what is jeopardising your IVA. Moving abroad is a way to restart the life.

Hi Lusso

I’m a colleague of Declan’s and will standing in for him whilst he's on holiday. He’ll be back this Monday 10th May when I will brief him on your post. In the meantime if you wish to speak to our customer care team you can call them on 0845 296 0117, Monday - Friday 8:00am - 8:00pm and Saturday 9:00am - 1:00pm. You can also email customercare@debtfreedirect.co.uk

Our customer care team will look into all viable options open to you, including the full and final option. Due to the circumstances you have noted we do understand that the IVA will be difficult to maintain and therefore we will do what we can to assist.

If we progress with the full and final option we will need details of where the funds are coming from and details about redundancy, for example the amount you may receive in redundancy pay that could also be offered to your final payment.

I hope that helps but please do come back to me if you have any other questions.

Kind regards

Paul

Hello All!

Thanks for your postings! I have emailed my details over to the customer care team and been told that it'll be this time next week before I get a response from DFD [:(]

I am still in work, against doctors orders! I have been told that I need to refrain from work, but as my salary would reduce by 50% if I did, I just can't risk it!! All that I have been through recently, I really, honestly don't believe that I can live without my family and I am scared what might happen come August! I have called the doctors surgery and have been told that I can get a letter confirming my recent "signing off" and prescriptions and I can the sickness policy showing that if I have more time off my salary halves....

Redundancies have yet to be discussed, all we have been told is that we are going through a change remit and we have change consultants in that deal with outsourcing. I have heard that my department will be called to a departmental meeting a week on Monday and that by February those that are made redundant will leave so it's going to happen over the next 6 months so I have no way of putting a figure on that at the moment....

As for the money, it would come from my mum's ISA - she says that way she can release it to DFD immediately and I could get a letter from her saying that's where it has come from.

More than anything else she is desperately worried about me, scared to leave me here on my own with the way I am at the moment with the ongoing stress of not being able to afford to live anywhere! I'll be honest I am scared too! I have had some really bad symptoms of depression, which were bad enough for my GP to make sure that I wasn't going to harm myself!!

She says that she will give me as much as she can afford to hopefully "bail me out" and have me where she can "keep an eye on me"

Well done to Paul for spotting that a week is far too long to be dealing with a client complaint. I hope you manage to resolve things soon.

Hello all!

Just thought I would give you a status update - unfortunately there isn't much to tell [:(]

I still haven't received any feedback on my fixed and final offer from my IP. I have called today and been told that it might be another couple of days before they let me know if they deem it to be a fair offer and then obviously, if they do then it's more waiting for the creditors to make a decision too - in the meantime my mum has had viewers on the house I am in and I have been unable to go to work on Friday and Tuesday! I keep going in and "not functioning to my best ability" and so they send me home! They are trying to be as supportive as possible and agreed to pay me holiday pay for when I have been off sick - but obviously this can't continue! I am miserable and desperate and I really, really don't know what more I can do........

Everyone else seems to be moving on from the bereavements, talking of their new lives that they are looking forward to and I am just sinking deeper and deeper - no home, possibly no job and no resolution to all this - I can't tell you how sick I feel!!

Sorry for the rant, but I felt that I was about to lose it [:(]
