Hi all and his to all the people starting out on their journey to a debt free future.
As Christmas is quickly approaching it got me thinking about the six Christmases we had whilst in our IVA.
Life was a struggle, not much cash for prezzies or socialising,no cash for anything really in the first year. The main thing was the shock at not been able to spend money how we wanted to or should I say how we use to.The first Christmas was frozen turkey small present's for the daughter but she understood (we told her about the iva)
But as each year passed and with wage rises and our canny knack of spotting a bargain Christmas got better and better to the point it was nearly like Christmas before the IVA (except for the pointless expensive gifts)
This is the second Christmas since our CC but still no expensive gifts,£20 each to spend on each other and a bit more for the grandson
To those starting out it is tough I won't lie but it DOES get easier and when it finished you will not believe how much spare cash you have. When ours finished we had an extra 652 quid a month
Stick it out guys and good luck

Great post. You do learn that it isn't the money that counts, but is truly the love and the thought.

On a practical front, I part funded Christmas's by saving up my shopping points to supplement the food and doing surveys to earn high street shopping vouchers.

Love the post - we are still living Christmas as in an iva ...no extravagance just small gifts to share the love

I'm waiting for all of my vouchers gained by doing online surveys - costs me nothing but time. We don't exchange gifts anymore - nothing we want or need. We will get some small pressies for our small grandchildren though.
