Barclays bank were never really a bind for us, it was Barclaycard AKA Mercers who were the most persistant.

Same here. I had no problem with the bank, and the account is still open.

It was the credit card which caused the problems.

Barclays isn't our main account (although it used to be).

Barclaycard was my creditor but not my hubbys. The bank account was fine.

Ah gotcha, our Barclays bank account was joint (£5300 OD) so that would explain.

We had no overdraft with ours, and I was the one in the soft and smelly with the credit card.

It's not our main account, but any spare cash gets paid across to it and the debit card comes in useful. Not that there is a lot in there!

As soon as the IVA is completed, it will become the main account.

We had an account with Nationwide, and just made that our main account. There was all of 45p in the Barclays account at the time we did the IVA;s, so they were welcome to that!

Not had a problem since.

So after the IVA was approved they couldn't transfer, even if there was a decent balance?

No, they can't touch it. They're not one of hubby's creditors anyway and it is a joint account.

We just put a few pounds in there if we have any spare. There's never a lot in it. I just wanted to keep it open.

So do you think I could still use a personal saving account I have with them, current balance about three quid, without any worries?

You can try. I've had no trouble at the moment.

If and when any spare cash comes available I think I will give it a go.
