hi i wonder if you could help with some advice . My circumstances have changed and im being messed around .
my original situation was that i am a single mum receiving higher rate DLA with higher rate mobility and middle rate care with a severe disability premium. my daughter was receiving nothing (but attended a special needs school)
She has now turned 18 !!
My severe disability has been stopped when she turned 18
she is now receiving lower rate DLA mobiity and lower rate care
the question is do i get my severe disability back or something else
i would be very appreciative of any comments or anyone thats had the same situation
hope to hear back.
thankyou.

Hello Teerena and welcome to the foru,.

Are you in an IVA? If not, are you going to be struggling with your payments?

As to DLA, I would query why these payments have stopped. My neighbour has a severely autistic son who is over 18 and they still get mobility allowance.

You do need to contact DWP in the first intance I think.

I know that our neighbours don't get the DLA, it's the son who gets that, and they get the carers/attendance allowance. They get a motability car for him as well.

Visit DirectGov - they may be able to help you.

The CAB give very good advice on benefit entitlements, and I am meeting a firm on Wednesday who I think may be able to assist - if so I will send their details to Admin to pass on to you.

Let us know how you get on teerana. I'm sure you should be entitled to more than you are getting.
