Is it possible for myself, partner and our 3 children to rent through an estate agent but to ask to have it in his name only rather then mine because of an iva?

Hi
That sounds possible as long as they feel that his income is enough to cover the rent.
If this is unlikely then best to be upfront with the agent before parting with any money for the credit check
Regards

Worked for us. However we did use the local independant agents, we needed somewhere that accepted dogs (and agent was dog lover too) and my wife earned enough to cover the rent on her own.

They still credit checked me, but I'd already forewarned them so it wasnt a surprise and were all quite jovial about me being a bit suspect. Guess its all a bit more laid back in Cornwall.

I was a little worried, and previous posts had recommend private landlords, who may very well not actually bother with credit checks anyway. This was going to be our fallback, but in the end, wasnt needed.
