I have no idea Jan. I remember that the client was in her thirties and had the horse from childhood. She rented a field and stabling from a local farmer but this was cheap as she helped him out too. Food and medicines were the main expense but it was accepted as most creditors have a heart.

On saying that, I had an IVA rejected a few years ago by a bank because the debtor's wife refused to give up IVF treatment. She had nothing to do with the debts and had a good job but the bank said it was a 'luxury' item but were prepared to allow one more year. I advised the creditor that I was not going to tell a woman who had previously miscarried that she now had a time limit on getting pregnant because of her husband's failed business and they rejected the IVA. The husband was made bankrupt but about a year afterwards they had a child.

So not all creditors have a conscience.

I can't believe they could be so heartless! I'm so glad she went on to have a child.
