Hi I am planning on paying my husbands iva off early they are arranging a meeting with my offer. In the letter it says I should seek legal advice.....Why do I need legal advice? It seems quite straight forward, what could go wrong?

It is their duty to ensure they give best advice and mentioning seeking legal advice falls under that cloak of responsibility. In the unlikely event that you might have needed it they can, at least, say they advised it.

Sometimes it may be cheaper to allow a bankruptcy to proceed than settle or propose an IVA especially when the 'non insolvent spouse' is helping. We would advise independent legal advice is sought as while we can advise our clients their spouses should seek advise elsewhere.

One thing that could go wrong is that you and your husband fall out - you want to claim the money back off him at a later date but you cannot as you are giving it to him as a gift.
