Hi, my wife and I finished an IVA in December 2012, (It started in December 2007) it lasted 5 years and we didn't miss a payment.
How long until it is off our credit history as we're hoping to buy a house next year or do we have to wait longer?

Many Thanks

Your credit file should be totally cleared by now so get a copy from a credit reference agency. It may still be worth using a specialist broker such as Shaun Vickery from Select who posts here or Ryan as this could avoid any potential pitfalls.

It should all be done and dusted by now, barring errors. Have a look here for what should have happened: ... dit-record

Then check credit files from all three agencies (get the statutory reports at a couple of quid a pop), as well as the Insolvency Register.

You might find this quick video I made about cleaning up your credit record useful:
Noddle and Clearscore are also free credit agencies to consider using:

Hi Dominic,

6 years after the IVA began is when your credit reports should be clear. From that point we would be looking at using some High Street Lenders.

Hi Dominic

Assuming everything else is in order there should be every chance of being able to secure a competitive mortgage for you, as long as the correct lender is approached.
