MY HUSBAND AND I ARE DOING A DEBT MANAGEMENT PLAN THE COMPANY WE ARE WITH SAY WE CANNOT DO AN IVA ALTHOUGH WE QUALIFY ON A DEBTS AND INCOME BASIS. THE REASON THEY STATE IS THAT WE CURRENTLY PAY THE CSA AND IN ABOUT 2 YEARS TIME THIS WILL STOP AND THEN WE CAN PAY MORE (THIS IS NOT A PROBLEM, WE WILL PAY MORE AND THE AMOUNT WILL BE REASSESED ANNUAL ANYWAY) BUT I HAVE READ YOUR WHAT YOU SAY ABOUT DMP AND AM CONCERNED I FEEL AN IVA WOULD BE BETTER FOR US. WE WERE HAVING LOADS OF CALLS THEY HAVE LESSENED A BIT NOW AND LETTERS FROM OUR CREDITORS WITH CHARGES AND INTEREST ON SOME IT HAS STILL NOT BEEN FINALISED SINCE JAN 2010 CAN YOU ADVISE PLEASE.

Hi Gloria and welcome to the Forum.
It is possible your DMP company feels that the debt will be repaid in full within five years making an IVA not the best option. However, your DMP does not seem to working to its best so an IVA may be the best way to gain protection from creditors.

I suggest you take a second or even third opinion as the advice is free. There is always the possibility that your DMP company cannot provide IVAs and the DMP suits them better than you.

Hi Gloria welcome to the forum. Why not take a look at www.iva.com for a list of companies and some reviews of these, you can get some case specific free impartial advice. Always take the advice of 2 or 3 companies and our professionals who post on the forum all come highly recommended too. All the best and let us know how you get on. xx
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

How much do you owe to creditors and how much do you pay each month into your DMP?

Hello gloria.3,

A debt management plan certainly isn't right for everybody.

In addition to Melanie's questions could you let us know how much you will save each month when the CSA payments come to an end?
