My son has just got his results from college and he has passed his foundation degree in arboriculture and tree care. We are so proud of him as he is very dyslexic and we didn’t think he would sit his GCSEs let alone sit a foundation degree. Graduation is at Winchester Cathedral on 21 July. Can’t wait to see him in his gown and mortar board. Lots of photos to sent to family members and especially to all the teachers who said he would never manage higher education. He just needs to find a job now so he can keep me in the way I would like to become accustomed.

Nice 1, although I had to Google arboriculture, does that mean he can grow his own vineyard, a rew customers on here I'll bet [:)]
If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else’s, we’d grab ours back.

Aww well done to him!! I know how hard it has been for him as my best mate is Dyslexic and got no help at school and was written off.

Well he went to College to redo GCSEs while working full time, then did a GNVQ in computing and went to Leeds Met and finished a 4 year degree a year ago getting a First with honours!!!

Proof that hard work can pay off.
1st payment Oct 2008, last payment Dec 2013. Certificate received March 2015 due to PPI claim.

My son reads all the time. I remember once when he asked where my bookmark was. I told him I would just leave the book open so as not to lose my place but he was insistent I had a bookmark. He found me one and told me to put it under the line I was reading. I told him I didn’t need to and why did he think I did. He told me if he didn’t put a bookmark under the line he was reading it would keep moving down the page till it dropped off the end of the book. I was amazed and didn’t realize that dyslexia manifested in that kind of way. He now says that he keep reading in case he forgets how to read as he doesn’t think he could go through the learning process again.
