Good morning. Do you know of anywhere I can save money for emergencies, etc. The companies I have looked at always do a Credit Check (even the Post Office) which would obviously preclude someone who has entered into an IVA. Thank you.

Most savings institutions credit check for identity confirmation only and an IVA should not stop you opening an account. During my IVA I opened an account with Yorkshire Building Society with no issues. I also confirmed with the Skipton Building Society that those in an IVA were acceptable. Otherwise just allow it to sit in your usual current account.

Put an envelope in the back of your wardrobe and stash the cash ....

Open a basic bank account...we opened a couple during our iva and it allowed us to have several pots of money built up for car repairs; emergencies; holiday fund ....
Sharing from experiences of dealing with debt

There is a solution for everyone .... Just need to stay positive !

You can try. Some may be accepted, some may be refused. You are right that 'sod's law' intervenes whenever we have managed to scrape together a few spare quid --- that is why we try to scrape them together in the first place !
