I do understand that some people have problems with foods. It's the chavs who just have to have good old British grub, regardless of where they are in the world that annoy me. I'll try most things.

My memory is horrendous! But a lot of Andys post rings very true!
I used to be head receptionist of a really large hotel n company, n Im sorry to say the British are the worst!
And people inability to operate a kettle or TV when away from home is just beyond me!

Lesley, I can understand were you are coming from, I used to be really bad n some things have still stuck with me. I have only just recently started to get better with certain foods, but I get easily turned off again.
One of my worst areas is meat, I agreed to try crispy duck at the wkend n hubbys MIL was shocked that I had NEVER tried it - as though Id never lived! Took one look at it n tried a nibble - No dont like it! MIL was just appalled! Just like if we go for sunday dinner at her house its always made a hassle, cos I dont eat certain meat! Id quite happily sit with a plate of veg!

Hubby has cooked a duck at home before for my parents, n the smell is horrid, even hubby was put off!
A friend on mine, her hubby goes shooting, n the first time he cooked rabbit stew, she threw up! The smell was that bad to her! He is now only allowed to cook his game at his mothers house!

I used to be vegetarian, but after meeting my hubby whom is a Chef, I was turned back to chicken n fish. N now Ive progressed to pork/beef! Do not like Lamb though n thats cos I just dont!

I'm almost 50 Luke and when I read all these studies about healthy eating and 5 a day etc., technically I shouldn't be here!

You're right it's never too late and I'm sat here now picturing myself eating food (proper) and feeling a little giddy!

Are you calling me a chav Jan?!?! I'm wary of foods that I don't know and I wouldn't eat a lot of food abroad.

When I went to France with work I ended up having steak and chips (which Dave later informed me could have been horse!) as none of the French food appealed to me - no way was I eating snails, frogs legs, fois gras or chicken gizzards!

I never have my 5 a day, but I am getting better - I love most vegetables when they are raw, and I'll have peas with anything. I don't like eating fruit, although I will have smoothies.

The only meat I won't eat is rabbit, probably because I always had pet bunnies when I was a kid!
