I have been a brave girl today plucked up the courage and have made my BR appointment at the court for the 7th September at 9.30. Will worry about how to take the day off work at another time. The lady who booked my appointment was actually really nice, said are you OK? as I was breathing so heavily and she said I could bring someone with me but husband works so its me alone. I need to fill out the forms next and I am hoping to get a CAB app to double check everything but feel I have taken all the advice I can on this from my IVA person, here and the debt charity so its this way forward.

I’m sure you’ll be fine, I have just spent the afternoon at CAB going over all the forms, I had made some errors so I have a new form and am going to fill it all in tomorrow and I have to take it back to CAB on Wednesday for them to do the copies for us. Our date is Thursday at 9.30am, we are both going together. Not sure what will happen, I presume we will go in one after another!

I bet you feel better already just booking the date, I know I did!

Well done Fudge, I'm proud of you! I was going to go on my own, but in the end Dave went with me as I wasn't sure where the court was! If I had known where to go I would have been fine. The people there were lovely (apart from the security guard - you would have thought I was a terrorist rather than a bankrupt!) and it was much better than I expected.

You'll be fine, and please let keep posting to let us know how you are getting on x

Thanks guys - I feel weird, a bit stressed out had a horrible day at work anyway but really weird - I thought I would feel a bit better but i think until I get all the forms done and it all approved its just that fear of the unknown and plus need to get my house equity sorted but came home today and got a very nasty letter from NR saying that they have now passed my case to a solicitors that want full payment within 7 days otherwise they will take me to court - which took the sting of making the BR appointment away slightly!

Hi

Please do not worry.
As Jane.i said the CAB really are helpful and remember they do deal with these forms on a regular basis.
Might be worth writing the answers on a blank sheet of paper in case you make mistakes, show this to the CAB and you can then complete your form.

Good luck

thank you! I hope I can get a CAB appointment in time everytime I call the phone lines are constantly engaged, I think I can take most of hte information that they need from my IVA form as the I&E was quite straightforward although I haven't even begun to fill out the forms online yet!

Sadly this is often the case the CAB are drastically under funded.
if at all possible i'd recommend that you go in to their offices to arrange an appointment.

Good luck

Yes will try and do that, my appointment isn't for two weeks so should be able to get something in in the meantime! its shocking isn't it if they had more funding then they could probably help people more in teh first place to avoid this type of debt

That they would.
People do not know just how reliant the CAB are on Volunteers time.
I do know that the DWP have started 'Now lets talk Money' campaign.
They hope to be able to offer further debt advice through CAB and other organisations.
Here is the link to the site.

I used all the information from my IVA which made filling out the forms a bit easier!

My whole debt experience has taught me to be very philosophical and to take one day at a time. My re-mortgage offer came through on Wednesday but I still don't know whether it is going to enable to me to offer a full and final or whether the path will have to BR ... but I am open to "what will be, will be" ... afterall there are much more important things in life ... like my new little granddaughter! I am really encouraged by your experience at the court :) Take care ...
