I have debts over £20,000 and considering an IVA. I have my own current account with HSBC but also a joint current account with Barclays with my father (sames surname). I do not use this joint account as my father wanted my name included in case anything happened to him. He has never been overdrawn EVER and does not owe anything re debts. What would happen if I took out an IVA - would it affect his account even though no debts are in him name only mine.

Many thanks

Hi jk and welcome to the forum

I assume that the account is in credit and only includes nominal sums of money as your father's salary or pension is paid in and he pays his bills. If this is the case then your IVA should not affect the account, but best to check with the bank that it will not be closed to be sure.
