I know there are six months to go before Christmas but we shop in Asda for our food and we save a weekly amount which we add to our food bill so we can buy our Christmas food at Christmas time!

After all Asda are a strong company unlike some of these Christmas clubs schemes where one went down last year!

I've been buying savings stamps in Sainsburys (I think Tesco do them as well) - every time I get pound coins in my change I buy stamps with them. Each card is worth £25, and to be honest I don't miss the pound coins.

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is the present - a gift to make the most of.

Hi Skippy

Didn't know they did that!

As I am moving away I won't be near Asda's and will have to use Sainsbury's so will get onto that scheme so I can start saving again!

People looked stunned when I pay for my Christmas shopping by giving them my card and asking to use that to pay for the shopping!

See, you learn something new every day! I was telling someone else about it and she looked at me as if I'm some sort of peasant but I think it's a great idea.

Well I went into my local Sainsbury's today and the girl looked surprised when I asked for a savings card!

Went to the machine put my £'s in and got the stamps!

183 days to go to the big day!

Marie- we try to get things for our children as well during the year so the expenditure is not to great as we want them to have something for Christams!

The Asda savings card is excellent, I've used it for the last couple of years. The bonus's also add up and worth it if you shop regularly.

Tesco clubcard points also let you save your points up all year and they pay out in November. That means rather than getting the £5-6 per 3 months, with the extra points I get nearly £30 in November and it pays for a couple of family presents - worth considering!

I picked up an Asda savings card today, so next month I'll start putting some money on it. I used to collect Tesco clubcard points, but I won't shop there on principle now (unless it's for jeans, they're the only ones that fit) so I don't get them any more.
