I have just realised that my local college run a Hairdressing and Beauty course and they have a salon which is open to the public. They charge very reasonable rates as the students, under supervision, carry out the treatments.

I normally get my short hair cut and highlighted and it costs £55, hubby is always moaning at me for going so often, but its short and gets out of style very quickly. I do try to grow it now and again but it starts annoying me, I am too old to be faffing about with long hair! [:D] I need it highlighted ‘cos I am going grey, I am late-30s, but it must be all the stress of the last few months, but I dread to think what my natural hair looks like now!

Anyway, my college charges just £12 for the same treatment so I am going to book an appointment tomorrow and take my chances with the students!! Aahhh

I’ll post back how successful this money-saving idea is once I have had my hair done!

Hi Jane
The college near me does the same and you can get the beauty treatments for at least half the price too. I have not had my hair done by them but I am considering. Let us know how it goes as like you my grey bits are appearing a bit too often but just cant afford the cost very often.

We have all had ours done bu the college and they are very good, the tutors oversea everything. I am sure you will be very pleased, I have never had colour or anything done there but the cuts are fine. The only slight problem is they do take their sweet time, which is fine but the children get fed up.

Sadly there isn't a college local to me otherwise I would be doing the same! I had my hair cut short yesterday and I know it's going to have to be cut more often and I don't think my £10 allowance will cover it!

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is the present - a gift to make the most of.
