My creditors meeting is the 27th Dec.
I have opened a Basic Bank Account with the Lloyds TSB and they have been brilliant.
Sat in my little office just thinking about how I am going to budget and how I am going to deal with my money.
Anyway I think I need another account, one for all my bills and DD and one for food and others.
Does anyone know of another basic bank account that I can apply online, dont really want to go out again !! then I can be ready when and if my iva is approved in 5 days

Nat West Step Account, I did it online, co-op over the phone.

or will I be allowed to open another one with lloyds tbs

I have a bank account with the co-op and a savings account with them also and I find it works well for me to transfer any surplus I may have at the end of the month into the savings account.
If you feel it would be better for you to have 2 current accounts why not phone Lloyds and ask if you can have another one.

Think Banking have an account that comprises of two accounts,one that your wages are paid into and DD/SO paid and another account where surplus funds are then transferred into.You receive a Maestro debit card for this account.
Well worth the £12.50 per month fee.

I opted for Lloyds too and have visa debit card and cheque book. Importantly, I signed up for internet banking and the minute I got on they offered a savings account with a slightly better interest rate - jumped at it..... both accounts are free...

how did you manage to get a cheque book ?? Which account do you have ??
mine is a basic cash account

Not sure how. I went into my branch, explained that I was about to enter an IVA and needed a basic account and they set it all up from there. We don't have an agreed overdraft or any other credit dfacilities, and to be honest, all I use the chequebook for is sending 50% of any excess income monthly to my IP, so I guess it doesn't make a lot of difference.

For you to have a cheque book think you must have a current account. Which would be handy for me because a still use quite a few cheques, school dinners etc..

I find it hard without a cheque book for school things, our school insists on cheques even for minimal amounts! I take it now to the finance office as daughter won't!

I rang Co-op and went through my application over the phone. And they accepted us for a joint account for the basic account that has online banking and a visa electron card and you can pay in at the post office if their isn't a branch neear you.

Like you we came to conclusion (after 18 months of being in our IVA) that we needed separate accounts to help us budget better and keep things separate.

if you do decide to venture out then you can also apply for the halifax easy cash account by post. Again internet banking and a visa electron card!

Also consider going for a cashplus Mastercard as well.

You can use it for places that won't accept a Visa electron card!

or the Free Bread one if there are any left for doing John's survey, I've received mine and my pin now so just got to find some money to load funds onto it, I'm going to set up a DD in the New Year.

I opened a co-operative current account just before my IVA was set up, so I had no problems getting a cheque book and Cheque guarantee card etc. Once my IVA was setup my Lloyds account was frozen etc

polar... Why was your Lloyds account frozen? Did you owe them money in your IVA ?
