Hi,
Firstly i'll explain my background.

I enetered into an IVA in July 2005 as i had £37000 debt + interest (aged 22 :-( ) Last year i proposed that i paid it all off (with the help of a loan from my Mam) which was accepted and i paid it off in September 2007, cost me £11700 as a final payout.

Anyway, I have had a Halifax Easycash since i entered into my IVA but i want a current account again, when i applied through halifax it was decklined as there was a bankruptcy notice on my credit file???, after appeal they still couldn't help me.

Makes me think i might as well have declared myself bankrupt!

Is there anyone in a similar situation who has managed to obtain a current account? if so who with and how did they go about it?

i apologise about the long winded post!

It is not the IVA which is stopping you from getting a bank account, but the fact that you borrowed money you could not afford to pay back - and your ability to have a bank account would be equally affected if you had gone bankrupt.
