I am an expat living in France and have an unsecured loan & a visa card totalling £13,000. I have no income in France and no way of making the monthly payments.
Can I declare myself bankrupt? Can you offer any solutions?

Hi Joanne and welcome to the forum
If your permanent address is now in France, you can declare under their Court led procedures - but there will be a cost to this which you say you can barely afford.
Given your circumstances, I would write to the creditors and explain you have no money to offer them and invite them to make you bankrupt. They probably will not, but there is nothing else you can really do and I doubt that they will pursue you terribly hard.
If your circumstances change, you can then always recommence the payments or pay for a bankruptcy application.

Welcome to the Forum Joanne,
Without an income there are not many options for you other than bankruptcy, as a DMP & IVA are both based on monthly contributions.
Do you have any family that may be able to help you out?

Hi
Just to correct IVA experts in that you can propose an IVA with no monthly income,by offering a full and final settlement using the cash raised from assets such as a property.
