Hi..sorry i bet this has been aske before but i am unfamiliar with the site to look...We did an IVA (not a monthly one..it was a 1 off payment) through Grant Thornton...that was 3 years ago...our discounted fixed rate mortage is up soon and would like to get a better deal...have already asked at our bank (Alliance and Leicester) and they said no...are we going to get the same answer everywhere...? i dont know where to try. We have i am very glad to say been debt free ever since...all we have is our mortgage. any help at all would be fantastic. many thanks x

You will likely receive a more positive offer if you seek the assistance of a mortgage broker rather than using high street lenders.

Hi Bagpuss,

Eventhough your IVA was a one off payment, it will still remain on your credit file for a period of 6 years from inception or in your case completion. This is may be why A & L have rejected you.

Seek out specialised mortgage brokers for advice, I dont think its impossible [:D]

Wasn't this same query raised by you a couple of days ago, Bagpuss, or am I going mad?

If you completed your mortgage several years ago, there should be no problem in finding an alternative lender to give your business to. I suggest you use a mortgage broker who specialises in this type of lending and can scour the market for the best deal for you.

Hiya Melanie, your not going mad, it was my fault. I asked this question via email first then managed to figure out how to post a question on the site...me and computers have never really been the best of friends. Thanks everyone for youe help. I am getting in touch with a mortgage broker from on here.
