Hi all:
We live in rented accommodation, the rent is slightly high for the area, and the house is larger than average, but only because we have 3 German Shepherd dogs, and finding a rental home with a) a large enough garden and b) a landlord happy for us to have these 3 dogs in is very difficult.
Is it possible for the OR to look at the rent, and decide that the house is too big for us, and force the contract to be void? can he force us out?
I have checked the agreement, and there is no Bankruptcy clause contained in it.
As usual, many thanks for any help given

I dont think the OR will question your accommodation type as long as the rent is not considered to be excessive.
You have 3 large dogs (thought I was bad enough with 2 cockers) so you need plenty of room.
Can I ask what level of rent you currently pay?

The man at CAB said our rent was quite high for the area but the OR has not questioned it! Its still half of our old mortgage payment anyway!
We have 2 cats and it was a bit of a job finding a landlord who would accept pets, nearly all the agencies we went to said no pets! We found this house eventually, it’s a new build and the landlord was ok with the cats but wanted some extra deposit, in case of damage, but so far, they’ve not trashed the place!

There should be no problem with the rent, Andy, but the OR will probably want to examine your rental agreement just to check.
For the record I fail to understand why landlords are so prejudiced against pets!

I don't know why landlords are prejudiced against pets either Melanie! Pets probably make less mess and do less damage than some humans I know!!!!

I have been trawling looking for rented accommodation and I have come across quite a mixed bag of reactions. Its not the dogs they have a problem with - its cats and smoking!!!!
