Because at he end of the day, you(and most of us) owe them money and they are going to want to see the highest return possible.

Creditors will not always demand that pension funds are suspended and they will never seek money which has been put into a pension fund previously.
There is an argument from creditors that if someone so wished they could use all of their disposable income post IVA to catch up on any suspended pension payments.

I was allowed to keep paying into my pension in both my IVA and BR. The payments are deducted at source and I never pay any extra in.

As in Bankruptcy your pension fund itself will not have to be paid to your creditors.

I just had to give the details of my pensions and how much they are worth, presumably to make sure I hadn't hidden a load of money in there!

I have been having trouble opening a savings account as I'm bankrupt - a lot of banks credit check you for a savings account which seems a bit strange! I would try and open one now with a bank who aren't linked to your creditors - I wouldn't wait until you have started your IVA.
