Hi, I have been out of work and have been in my new job a couple of weeks. I want to enter into an IVA and can't hold out much longer. Do you have to have been in work a certain amount of time before you can apply for an IVA or do they need you to be in work

I do not think that there is a minimum requirement regarding the lengh of time in a job,but you certainly need to have a job in order to have a possible IVA[unless you have an assett to release such as property].

Hi cf

The insolvency practitioner you choose to act for you will need to ensure that your employment is secure and as such form a good grounding for a long-term arrangement to repay your creditors.

There is no set time-limit, but I would personally prefer to see at least three months which usually accords with employer probationary periods, and certainly that you were under a long-term rather than fixed term contract.

It's all about the sustainability of your job rather than the length of time you have been there.

Hi c.f and Welcome to the Forum,

I agree with the advice given above, it does help that you have a job however it’s a question of whether you will maintain your position and the income that you receive.

Hope this information is of use
